Sheffield in lockdown: Eerie pictures of city centre one year after Boris Johnson told nation to ‘stay home’

It has now been a full year since the first coronavirus lockdown, and it is a year none of us will ever forget.

Amid all the turmoil, the normally bustling city centre has remained eerily quiet, with shops, pubs and restaurants all closed for much of the year.

Yesterday, Sheffield Star photographer Scott Merrylees took these evocative shots of a city still caught in the grip of Covid-19.
