Sheffield death toll rises and 13 more die in South Yorkshire as second lockdown starts

13 more people in South Yorkshire have died afte rtesting positive for Covid-19, with the death toll in Sheffield increasing by five.

There were fatalities across all of the boroughs, accoridng to the latest figures released by the NHS.

The five more recent deaths take the number of people who have died in Sheffield hospitals to 371.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire there were three more deaths in Doncaster, taking the total to 319.

In Rotherham there were two more deaths bringing the total to 250, and in Barnsley there were two more deaths, meaning the total there is now 190.

Nationwide, a further 236 people who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals to 33,873.

Patients were aged between 27 and 99 years old. All except 18 (aged 48 to 96 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

The families of the deceased have been informed.
