Sheffield Covid stats show six further hospital deaths

Sheffield hospitals have recorded a further six deaths of patients who had tested positive for Covid-19, according to the latest daily statistics.

Figures released by NHS England show 631 deaths were recorded in the 24 hours to 4pm on Saturday), including six in Sheffield.

The deaths took place between 5 November 2020 and 16 January, with the time taken for positive results to be received among the potential factors in a delay between a death happening and being recorded.

NHS England said the patients were aged between 29 and 103 years old. All except 31 – aged 46 to 93 years old - had known underlying health conditions.
