Streets Ahead, which is responsible for maintaining the city’s roads and pavements, announced that from today, Thursday, March 26, only emergency surfacing work would continue.

The team said it was ‘aware of some concerns’ about work continuing during the COVID-19 outbreak and had been prioritising ‘emergency and safety critical jobs’ while following government advice to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

“As of today, all our programmed resurfacing work has been suspended until further notice and roadside signs informing of this work are being removed,” it added.

“Emergency surfacing jobs will still go ahead. If you have received a letter from Streets Ahead informing you of work to be carried out, that work will now be cancelled. The works map on our webpage will also be removed during this time to avoid any confusion.”
