Revealed - the Sheffield suburb where almost 100 per cent of people have had their first vaccine

Almost all people aged over 16 in a Sheffield community have received one dose of their Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal.

The statistics also show more than half of people in Sheffield have now received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

NHS data shows 250,067 people in Sheffield had received both jabs by June 20 – 52 per cent of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.

Of those to have received both jabs, 239,242 were aged 25 and over – 62 per cent of the age group. It means 10,825 people aged between 16 to 25 have received both doses.

NHS vaccine data also reveals variation in coverage for residents who had received at least one dose between different areas in Sheffield.

Across Sheffield, 73 per cent of those aged 16 and over have had one jab.

Areas with the highest coverage are:

n Fulwood and Lodge Moor, with 96.5 per cent of people aged 16 and over given their first dose

n Bents Green and Millhouses, 94.9 per cent

n Beauchief, 94.9 per cent

Areas with the lowest coverage:

n Cathedral and Kelham, 23.2 per cent

n Devonshire Quarter, 32.6 per cent

n Highfield and Lowfield, 45.5 per cent

Across England, 26.4 million people had received a second dose of the jab by June 20 – 58 per cent of the population aged over 16 and over.

That includes 25.6 million people aged 25 and over – 65 per cent of the age group.

In total, 35.9 million people had received at least one dose of a vaccine by the same date, covering 79 per cent of people over 16.

Despite the success of the rollout, some staff at care homes in Sheffield have not been vaccinated.

The figures show 3,731 out of 4,442 eligible staff, including agency workers, at older adult care homes had received a first dose by June 20 – meaning 16 per cent have not had a jab.

Sheffield residents aged 18 and over can get their first and second doses of the Pfizer jab at the vaccination clinic at Darnall Primary Care Centre, with for bookable and walk-in appointments.​​​​​​​​​​​​
