One more coronavirus death in South Yorkshire, as 44 more die across UK

One more person has died with coronavirus at hospitals in South Yorkshire, the NHS has announced, taking the county’s overall death toll to 847.

Across the UK, another 44 COVID-19 hospital deaths were confirmed today, Saturday, July 4, taking the total to 33,443.

In South Yorkshire, there were no new deaths in Doncaster or Rotherham, where 224 and 194 have died respectively.

One additional death was announced in Barnsley, however, taking the death toll there to 146.

The latest figures from NHS England are for confirmed deaths at hospitals in the 24 hours up to 5pm on Friday, July 3.

Across all settings, 44,198 people are known to have died in the UK after testing positive for COVID-19.

To date, 284,900 people have tested positive for the disease in the UK, including 2,570 in Sheffield, 1,876 in Barnsley, 1,960 in Doncaster and 1,864 in Rotherham.
