Nurse blasts ‘idiot’ drinkers boasting about Doncaster pub crawl during Coronavirus panic

A nurse has blasted a group of Doncaster men who posted a picture of themselves drinking in a big group during the coronavirus lockdown as ‘idiots.’

A picture of a group of men drinking in Rossington was posted on Facebook yesterday showing the group raising their beer glasses to the camera.

The message, on Rossington Facebook page, Rossington Community Forum said: “Mayfield Arms is shut so West End Lane club it is.”

Pubs have been ordered to close and people urged to avoid social gatherings in a bid to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

An NHS nurse, who saw the picture being shared, contacted the Doncaster Free Press to express her disgust.

Declining to be named, she said: “As a nurse we are seeing the impact of this virus already and I am sick of seeing idiots like this endangering all of us.”

Another angry Facebook user said: “These are the idiots of Rossington clearly disregarding the advice and putting others in danger having a get together and thinking it hilarious.”

Other posters in the Rossington Community Forum page blasted the group as ‘idiots.’

The photo was later deleted from the page.

Last week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson advised people to stay away from pubs, clubs and restaurants – before later making it a blanket ban and ordering pubs to shut for an indefinite period.

Over the weekend, thousands of people across the country flouted social distancing rules, with people heading to parks, seaside resorts and green spaces.
