Nine more Covid-19 patients die in South Yorkshire

Nine more people have lost their lives to Covid-19 as the death figure in South Yorkshire continues to rise since the pandemic hit.

According to the latest data published by NHS England this afternoon (December 25), five patients have died in Doncaster, bringing the total deaths to 545.

Meanwhile, a further four people have succumbed to the deadly virus in Barnsley, as the total deaths hit 404.

However, no deaths were reported in Sheffield and Rotherham's hospitals.

Nationwide, a further 401 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 48,150, NHS England said on Friday.

Patients were aged between 48 and 105. All except 14, aged between 54 and 93, had known underlying health conditions.The deaths were between November 16 and December 24.

Their families have all been informed.
