Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Teaching Hospitals Trust, which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary, announced this morning that it was close to reaching the milestone.
A spokesman said: “At the time of writing, we are just two individuals away from safely discharging 1,000 patients who have battled and beaten Covid-19 since March.”

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been more than 370 deaths from Covid-19 across the three hospitals.
Last week, hopsital bosses said they were currently caring for about 200 patients with coronavirus but said that figures were stabilising and that staff were able to cope with the demand.
