Pubs and restaurants will be allowed to serve customers outdoors from next Monday, the Prime Minister confirmed today, and publicans in Sheffield have been quick to react, with many using the hashtag #beerisnear.

Kelham Island Tavern tweeted: “Now Boris has confirmed beer gardens will be open on the 12th, we can let you all know we will be open.”

It added that its beer garden would be open for walk-ins only, with no bookings, and would open from 12pm-9pm on Mondays, 2pm-10pm Tuesday-Thursday, 12pm-11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12pm-10pm on Sundays.

The Greystones tweeted: “Beyond excited to say this time next week we'll be serving you up fresh draught beer! It may be chilly, but wow, has it been a long time coming! We've missed you.

The Stag's Head on Psalter Lane wrote: “This time next week all we will be open for business, outdoors. Do remember to bring your masks for nipping to the loo and remember it's rule of six or two households! Download your test and trace app in advance! First come first served for tables! Oh and wear BIG COAT.”

The Raven Inn, in Walkley, said: “Finally it's confirmed!! Can't wait to welcome you back to this (hopefully) sunny space from Thursday the 15th.
