Milestone: Over 225,000 Covid vaccinations have been administered in South Yorkshire

More than 225,000 Covid vaccinations have now been administered across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, latest figures show.

A total of 225,136 doses had been given across the region as of Sunday, January 31, according to new data published by NHS England yesterday, Thursday, February 4.

At least one dose had been given to 87.2 per cent of people aged over 80, 74.1 per cent of those aged 75-79 and 34.9 per cent of 70-to-74-year-olds.

Nearly one in 10 (9,7 per cent) of people aged over 80 in the region had received their second dose.

In addition, 83,673 people aged under 70 had been given their first jab.

Gloucestershire had the highest proportion of over-80s to have received their first dose, at 94.9 per cent.

The East London Health and Care Partnership had the lowest percentage of over-80s to have been given their first jab, at 69.6 per cent.

Across England, more than 9.5 million doses had been administered as of Wednesday, February 3.
