Meadowhall Covid testing centre forced to close: Where you can still get a test in Sheffield

One of the largest coronavirus testing centres in Sheffield has been forced to close due to frozen pipes.

The drive-through regional testing centre at the Meadowhall overspill car park will be shut until Tuesday, according to Sheffield City Council.

A statement on their website read: “This site will also be closed for resurfacing works on Sunday 14th and Monday 15th February and will be open again on Tuesday 16th February.”

Anyone who has already booked a test will be directed to another site in the city.

There are six testing sites across Sheffield, including Meadowhall.

Other locations include the former Hazlebarrow Primary School site; Shipton Street Car Park, Upperthorpe; Gower Street Car Park, Burngreave; Station Road Car Park, Darnall and the Alderson Road Car Park in Sharrow.

The Meadowhall testing centre was forced to close its doors last month due to flooding fears on the nearby River Don.
