McDonald’s rumoured reopening date for Sheffield restaurant appears online

Rumours of an exact opening date for Mcdonald’s in Sheffield have surfaced after the fast food giant announced plans to re-open its UK restaurants in the next few weeks.

A post by an anonymous source on social media claims that the Golden Arches in Handsworth will open doors to customers on June 4, which could extend to other branches across the city.

The post also warned those desperate to get their hands on that first Big Mac since lockdow not to ‘go crazy’ in order to ‘let staff get used to the new layout’.

It comes after Mcdonald’s fans were pictured queueing ‘up to two hours for chicken nuggets’ at drive-thru restaurants in the South of England, where branches close to the firm’s distribution centres have been steadily re-opening.

The North has missed out on its Maccies fix until now after the chain announced plans to have all UK restaurants open for delivery and drive-thru ‘in early June’.

The company could not confirm an exact opening date for Sheffield or anywhere else in the UK, but a spokesperson said: "We're taking our time to reopen in a way helps everyone stay safe including our suppliers.

“This means the first 44 pilot restaurants are close to one of our distribution centres as we prepare our supply chain for re-opening.

"We are working hard to expand our restaurant reopenings to all drive-thrus across the UK and Ireland by early June."
