Is lockdown working? Sheffield infection rate falls to lowest level since early December
Sheffield’s Covid-19 infection rate is the lowest it has been since early December, following a further fall in the number of new cases.
Another 771 people across the city tested positive for coronavirus during the seven days to February 11, which is the most recent date for which reliable figures are available.
That gives a weekly infection rate of 131.8 new cases per 100,000 people, which is down by more than a quarter from the rate of 180.2 recorded during the previous seven days.

The infection rate is now the lowest since December 9, when it stood at 130.5.
It is just over a month since Sheffield’s infection rate stood at 316.0 for the week ending January 8.
The Covid infection rate is also falling elsewhere in South Yorkshire, though not as rapidly.
