Across the UK, 182,260 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed and 28,131 people have died after contracting it.

On Friday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the UK had hit its target of providing 100,000 Covid-19 tests a day by the end of April.

The figure includes 40,000 tests sent out, including directly to people’s homes, which may not yet have been taken.

Mr Hancock said the testing capacity built in April would ‘help every single person in this country’ and would ‘help us to unlock the lockdown’.

He added that the Government's ‘next mission’ was its test, track and trace operation and work was already starting to roll it out.
