Meanwhile, in North Yorkshire, a coronavirus ‘field hospital’ is being built in preparation for the peak of the coronavirus crisis, health chiefs have confirmed.

The temporary hospital will be set up at the Harrogate Convention Centre and have space for up to 500 beds.

The centre is the latest facility to be announced as a so-called ‘Nightingale’ hospital, to care for patients with coronavirus.

Other Nightingale hospitals have already been announced at the NEC in Birmingham, the GMEX centre in Manchester and the ExCeL conference centre in east London.
