Four more coronavirus deaths confirmed in South Yorkshire

A further four people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in South Yorkshire, according to the latest daily statistics.

NHS England data shows four deaths were recorded in the 24 hours to 4pm on Tuesday, including three in Doncaster and one in Barnsley.

As of 2 March, 893 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in Sheffield hospitals, 743 in Doncaster, 604 in Barnsley and 561 in Rotherham.

Nationally, a further 204 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 83,733.

The patients were aged between 32 and 100 years old. All except seven – aged 63 to 88 years old – had known underlying health conditions.

Government data up to 2 March shows that of the 21,599,027 jabs given in the UK so far, 20,703,615 were first doses - a rise of 224,996 on the previous day.
