Former steel worker died after contracting Covid-19 in Sheffield care home

A former steel worker is confirmed to have died after testing positive for coronavirus while being cared for in a Sheffield care home, an inquest heard yesterday.

Patrick McCormick, aged 93, passed away on May 9 at Abbey Grange Residential and Nursing Home in Firth Park.

Assistant coroner at the Sheffield Medico-Legal Centre, Abigail Combes, confirmed yesterday that the 93-year-old died of natural causes.

The inquest heard how the former steel worker started to deteriorate after he contracted Covid-19, which then led to his death.
