In a short statement read out by the school’s receptionist, Bentley’s Kirkby Avenue Primary School’s deputy head Mrs C Clifford said the school has effectively closed one more bubble because of a positive Covid-19 result in a member of staff.

"The staff member has no contact with children this week and completely unrelated with other class bubbles. We have followed the advice by the Public Health England,” she said.

No other details were provided to the press.

The primary school recently had to shut down its school after a child tested positive for Covid-19 after some parents held a Halloween party at the weekend.

The school headteacher Beverly Lockwood said the school’s Willow, Cherry and Nursery bubbles had all been closed because of the party.

She had reported the matter to the police.
