Doncaster has more than 120 coronavirus deaths in hospitals and care homes

More than 120 people have died in Doncaster from coronavirus, according to latest NHS figures.

The coronavirus death toll in Doncaster is now 121 – with 110 deaths in hospital and a further 11 in care homes.

According to the latest figures, released by NHS England this afternoon, there have now been 110 deaths in the Doncaster hospital trust area.

The figure is up three on yesterday’s total of 107.

The Office of National Statistics said a total of 11 people coronavirus related deaths have been reported by Doncaster care providers to the Care Quality Commission.

The data reveals every suspected or confirmed Covid-19 death reported by care homes in the town to the CQC, between April 10 to May 1.

In total, there have been 522 cases of COVID-19 in the Doncaster area.

The figures relate to deaths recorded and reported in the last 24 hours in the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which includes Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Montagu Hospital in Mexborough and Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop.

More than 150 patients have been allowed home after treatment.

Locally, there have been 2,248 cases and 222 deaths in Sheffield, an increase of one.

Rotherham has reported 761 cases and 120 deaths, an increase of one on yesterday’s figures.

The number of deaths in Barnsley stands at 92 with 702 cases, the same figure as yesterday.

Nationally, the UK coronavirus death toll reached 29,758 after another 435 people died in England, Scotland and Wales.
