Yesterday, the number of coronavirus deaths in Doncaster passed a grim milestone after the figure climbed above 200.

Meanwhile, the UK coronavirus death toll has today hit 41,211 as 83 more deaths were recorded in England hospitals.
It is one of the lowest rises of fatalities from the deadly bug since it started to sweep across the country. On Monday, only 55 deaths were recorded, the lowest since before lockdown.

Hide AdHowever, the true UK death toll is likely to be much higher.
The Office for National Statistics this week revealed coronavirus was involved in 51,766 deaths up to May 21 - 10,000 more than the official figure.
Locally, there have been 280 deaths in Sheffield an increase of two on yesterday, 179 in Rotherham and 130 in Barnsley.

Hide AdThe figures relate to deaths within hospitals run by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This includes Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Mexborough’s Montagu Hospital and Bassetlaw Hospital at Worksop.
More than 350 patients treated for coronavirus across the Trust have been allowed home after receiving treatment.
