Doncaster coronavirus death toll nears 500 as nine more fatalities recorded

Newly released NHS England statistics put the town's total at 492.

Nine more deaths have been recorded by Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust in the last 24 hours.

However, due to delays in recording and reporting, it does not necessarily mean the deaths have occurred in the last day.

The new figures come as the first people in Doncaster receive the coronavirus vaccine.

Jabs began yesterday with hundreds of people already receiving the vaccine at specially created hubs.

Over 80s are among the first batch of people receiving the vaccine in the town.

Doncaster will find out tomorrow which tier of coronavirus restrictions it will be in in the run up to Christmas, with the area expected to remain in Tier 3, the highest level of restrictions.

Another review will be held on December 23.
