Covid-hit Sheffield school closed for two days to undergo deep-clean

A coronavirus-hit school in Sheffield will be closed for two days to undergo a deep-clean, it has been confirmed.

UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park on Old Hall Road revealed the news to parents in a letter on Saturday.

The letter said: “We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 with the UTC.

“We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

“The small number of people who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus have received a letter informing them that they must stay at home for 14 days.

“The UTC will be closed in the first instance on Monday, October 5, and Tuesday, October 6, for a deep-clean.”

The letter adds that pupils should follow their timetable at home via Microsoft Teams.

The city centre UTC will be open as normal.
