Covid death toll in South Yorkshire rises by four, as coronavirus patients in Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham die
South Yorkshire’s coronavirus death toll has risen by four in the space of a day, after hospital patients in Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham died.
Two Covid-19 patients at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals trust and one each at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust are the latest people to have died with the virus.
Their deaths were among 82 at hospitals nationally to be confirmed by NHS England today, Friday, October 16.
The number of confirmed reported coronavirus deaths at hospitals in England now stands at 30,825.
Across South Yorkshire, a total of 918 coronavirus patients have now died in hospital, including 307 in Sheffield, 246 in Doncaster and Bassetlaw, 212 in Rotherham and 153 in Barnsley.
Those figures do not include deaths in care homes and elsewhere in the community, meaning the true number is likely to be considerably higher.
