Coronavirus: Two more deaths confirmed in Sheffield as further 244 people die across England

A further two people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in Sheffield, according to the latest statistics from NHS England.

The latest increase means there have now been 236 coronavirus-related deaths in the city’s hospitals.

In addition to hospital deaths in Sheffield, at least 126 people are known to have died with coronavirus in care homes up to April 24, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.

Across England a further 244 people who tested positive for the virus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 23,952.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, eight more people have died in Doncaster, taking the death toll there to 134. Two more people have died in Barnsley, which brings the town’s death toll to 107. In Rotherham, the number of fatalities is now 132 after another hospital death.
