Coronavirus: Sheffield climbing centre announces closure due to COVID-19 outbreak

Popular Sheffield climbing centre Awesome Walls has become the latest casualty of coronavirus after announcing its temporary closure.

It said: “We are not only passionate about climbing but even more so about the safety of our team and customers.

“In light of communication from the government regarding the spread of COVID-19, we decided to close our centres with immediate effect as of yesterday.

“At the moment this closure will last until at least the end of March but we will continue to review the situation and heed all guidance relating to small businesses issued by the Government and Health Services.

“As of yesterday, all prepaid and monthly billed memberships will be frozen free of charge - meaning you won’t be billed for the time we’re closed.”

“We hope you understand and support our decision and we look forward to welcoming you back to our centre in as short a time as possible.”
