Coronavirus: Rother Valley Country Park stays open - but urges visitors to follow social distancing rules

Rother Valley Country Park has said it is staying open during the coronavirus crisis – but has urged visitors to follow the Government's rules on social distancing.

Earlier, it had seemed that the park was shutting because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But now bosses have said the park is still open to visitors.

A spokesman said on Facebook: We apologise for the confusion, the park is open but we ask that you respect government guidance with regards to social distancing.

Earlier, the National Trust announced that it was closing all its venues after thousands of visitors descended on the organisation's sites around the country yesterday, flouting rules on social distancing.

The Government has said it is still safe for people to exercise and get fresh air in public open spaces but they must stay away from other users.
