As of Monday, there were 882 confirmed coronavirus cases in Sheffield. However, medical experts have said the Public Health England dashboard which publishes the number of confirmed cases in each area every day is ‘misleading and alarming’.

Kirsten Major, Chief Executive, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “Very sadly, we can confirm that since March 17th 2020, 58 patients being cared for at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

“The families of these patients have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this very difficult time.”
