Coronavirus: Facebook group set up to name and shame Doncaster businesses profiting from crisis
A Facebook group has been set up to name and shame firms and shops profiting from the coronavirus crisis in Doncaster.
Profiteer Watch allows people to share details of shops in the town which they feel are using the COVID-19 outbreak to make extra cash.
In recent days, there have been a number of reports of shops selling items such as hand sanitiser and toilet rolls at hugely inflated prices in order to capitalise on people stuggling to get hold of household essentials during the crisis.
In the last week, panic buying has seen supermarkets in Doncaster stripped of products such as fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, biscuits and cereals as well as pasta.
Last night, after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced he was ordering pubs to close, supermarket shelves were stripped of wine, beer and spirits with many reporting an increased demand within minutes of the announcement.
