Coronavirus: Doncaster mum sets up Facebook group to share home schooling tips

A Doncaster mum has set up a Facebook page to share home schooling tips and advice in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.

Laura Coates has set up the page aimed at passing on teaching ideas and support for parents, carers and family members of children in the early years foundation stage in Doncaster.

She said: “The group was also created to keep our children learning and reaching their full potential whilst keeping the community together.

“We only have just under 200 members so far, and I thought it would be fabulous if you would be able to inform your readers about the group and encourage more people to join and feel uplifted and supported.

“I am a qualified primary school teacher, though since having my children I am now a stay at home mother.

“It would be great if we can build this group up and open it to a wider audience in Doncaster.”

Members are also being encouraged to get their children to paint rainbows to help promote the group and spread the message.

She said: “A couple of members have also suggested the ‘rainbow’ idea whereby the children paint or draw a rainbow of hope and display it in our windows.”
