Coronavirus death toll rises again in Sheffield, as 85 more die in England

One more person has died with coronavirus at hospital in Sheffield, taking the city’s death toll to 270.

Across England, another 85 Covid-19 hospital deaths were confirmed on Saturday taking the total to 26,614.

The latest figures from NHS England are for confirmed deaths at hospitals in the 24 hours up to 5pm on Saturday. They do not include deaths at care homes or elsewhere in the community.

Across all settings, 38,376 people are known to have died in the UK after testing positive for Covid-19.

The news comes as England today enters an easing of some of the lockdown restictions imposed to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
