Sheffield’s current total means the city has the third highest number of confirmed cases by upper tier local authority area in England.

The director of Public Health in Sheffield said the high number of cases in the city compared to areas of a similar size is because there is more testing currently happening there.

Elsewhere in the county, there are 38 confirmed cases in Doncaster, 62 in Barnsley and 57 in Rotherham.
