Coronavirus cases increased by 57 across South Yorkshire on Tuesday

The number of people infected with coronavirus across South Yorkshire continues to rise according to figures released by Public Health England.

New figures reveal that 57 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley and Rotherham as of yesterday.

There are now 3,665 positive cases across the region, with 438 deaths.

In Sheffield, there are now 2,009 people infected with the virus and a total of 195 deaths – increase of two on Monday’s total.

Across Barnsley, there are 590 cases – a rise of 21 in the last 24 hours – 69 deaths.

There have been 655 cases in Rotherham – an increase of 39 people testing positive for the virus and 95 people have died.

Doncaster has 411 reported cases and 79 deaths an increase of five.

The figures do not include deaths in care homes or the community and may include delays in deaths being reported.
