In a letter to parents and carers on Tuesday, principal Dominic Curran said: “We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a further, confirmed case of Covid-19 within the academy.

“This case has occurred within a different year group/bubble to the case I contacted you about on Monday.

“We do understand that this may cause concern, but pleased be assured that we are continuing to monitor the situation, working closely with Public Health England and fully implementing their guidance.

“The children who have been in direct prolonged contact with this confirmed case will have received an individual letter and will be staying at home until 14 days have elapsed since their last contact with the confirmed case.

“The academy remains open and your child should continue to attend if they remain well.”

In Monday’s letter, Mr Curran said: “The small number of children who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case will have received an individual letter and will be staying at home for 14 days.

“If your child develops symptoms of Covid-19, they must not come to school and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared.

“Please be assured that for most people, Covid-19 will be a mild illness,” he added.
