The 17 postcodes which could send Sheffield into Tier 4 lockdown

As Christmas approaches and households in Tier 3 and below are permitted to mix on Christmas Day only, a number of areas in Sheffield still have high and rising infection rates.

Sheffield remained in Tier 3 following the review on December 17, and will remain that way over the Christmas period. The next full review is on December 30.

This means that although limited household mixing is permitted on Christmas Day, indoor mixing is forbidden the rest of the time.

This comes after the initial plan to allow a grace period between December 23 and 27 was scrapped after a new, more infectious strain of Covid was discovered.

These are the areas of Sheffield where the infection rate is higher than 200 per 100,000 of the population.

The rates are for the seven days to December 17. This is the latest full and accurate data available.

Sheffield’s average rate currently stands at 154.2 cases per 100,000 people in those seven days.
