13 more people with Covid-19 die in South Yorkshire hospitals with eight in Sheffield

There have been a further 13 deaths of people with Covid-19 in South Yorkshire with eight recorded in Sheffield.

Sheffield hospitals have recorded a further eight deaths of patients who had tested positive for Covid-19, according to the latest daily statistics.

Figures released by NHS England on February 13 show Doncaster hospitals recorded four deaths and Barnsley one death.

According to Government data , a total of 1,054 patients across all settings in Sheffield have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 up to Saturday February 13. This equates to 180.2 deaths per 100,000 people since the pandemic began, with the highest daily total being 13 deaths.

A further 436 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 78,588.

Patients were aged between 21 and 100 years old. All except ten (aged 49 to 89 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from 4 January to 12 February 2021.

According to Government data on healthcare , 14 patients with Covid-19 were admitted to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust sites on February 13 - the most recent date for which figures are available.

It brings the total number of coronavirus patients admitted to the trust's hospitals since the pandemic began to 4,121. The highest number of admissions recorded to date was 91 patients on April 02 2020.

As of February 376 of those patients remained in hospital for treatment including 36 in mechanical ventilation beds. The highest number of Covid patients being treated on any one day was 512 on January 25 2021, with the most patients in mechanical ventilation beds being reported as 41 on February 4 2021.

According to the latest Government figures, 38 people in Sheffield tested positive for Covid-19 on February 13. It brings the total number of people who have tested positive to 38,031.

The highest daily number of cases reported was 607 on October 07 2020.
