The 12 Sheffield areas worst hit by Covid-19 this week – including one with 11 new cases

There have been five or more confirmed new cases of coronavirus in 12 different areas in Sheffield in the week from September 10 to 16.

This comes according to the latest regional figures collected by the Office of National Statistics, which breaks down the number of new cases in every area in England.

Today Professor Chris Whitty is to address the nation over the spike in coronavirus cases, which the Prime Minster has said indicates a second wave.

This could mean more lockdown measures – and potential strategies will be explained to the public at Whitty’s conference.

Health bosses in the city have warned that people should ‘not be complacent’ as the number of people being hospitalised with the virus increases.

Of the areas in Sheffield with new cases, 12 had five or more new confirmed cases of Covid-19 between September 10 and September 16.

These are the areas where the most cases were confirmed in that week.
