Coronavirus: Sheffield loses another life as 27 die across England

The coronavirus death toll has increased slightly in Sheffield after 27 more people died across England of the deadly bug.

The latest NHS figures released this afternoon (Sunday, June 14) show that one more patient who tested positive for Covid-19 has died over the past day, bringing the city’s death toll to 281.

Across South Yorkshire, the figures show that Doncaster’s death toll has risen by two deaths to a total of 205.

Barnsley has recorded one death from the disease over the past day whereas Rotherham’s death count has remained static.

A further 27 patients have died of the disease across England, bringing the national death toll to 27,953.

The patients were aged between 50 and 101. Two of the casualties, who were 77 and 96, had no known underlying health conditions.

The figures could be much higher as they do not include deaths that happened within care homes or the community. A message from the Editor:
