A total of 280 Sheffield patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have now died of the deadly bug, according to the latest statistics published by NHS England this afternoon (Saturday, June 13).

Across England, 67 more people who contracted the disease have now died.

This brings the total number of confirmed reported coronavirus deaths in hospitals across the country up to 27,926.

Out of the people who died from the virus, two were aged between 20 and 39 years old and 44 people were over 80.

The figures could be much higher, as they do not include deaths that happened in care homes or within the community.
