Kingthorne Group Practice – which has two surgeries in Doncaster and Edenthorpe – has issued the new advice as coronavirus fears continue to grip the country.

A spokesman said: “Please do not attend the surgery if you have a new cough or temperature or fever.”

Patients are instead advised to self isolate for seven days at home if the display either or both of the symptoms and not to call 111.

Instead, people should visit the NHS website and follow guidance and should only contact 111 if symptoms do not improve or they feel unable to cope at home with symptoms.

There have been 590 reported cases in the UK with ten deaths.

But the figure is expected to rise significantly in the next few weeks.
