Coronavirus: 18 more patients die across Sheffield and South Yorkshire

South Yorkshire has lost 18 more lives to Covid-19, the latest NHS figures has revealed.

Six more people have died in Sheffield’s hospitals, according to the most recent data, bringing the total Covid-19 related fatalities in the city to 534.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, there were nine more fatalities in Doncaster, where the death toll now stands at 492.

In Rotherham there was one additional death, taking the total to 384 and in Barnsley there have now been 361 deaths, after two more were recorded.

Nationwide a further 369 people who tested positive for the coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 45,126.

Patients were aged between 40 and 100 years old. All except 13 (aged 61 to 93 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from August t 4 to December 15, with the majority being on or after 13 December.

Their families have been informed.
