The latest NHS figures show that Sheffield has 2,191 confirmed cases of Covid-19- an increase of 21 within 24 hours. The city’s death toll stands at 215 after six more patients died.

Across South Yorkshire, Doncaster has 494 confirmed cases and has seen 98 deaths.

Rotherham’s confirmed case rate stands at 736, an increase of 16 cases in 24 hours, with a death toll of 107.

While Barnsley has 678 confirmed cases of the virus and has seen 90 deaths.

Nationally, there have been 124,861 confirmed cases in England and 186,599 across the entirety of the UK.

This Sunday, Boris Johnson is expected to reveal a ‘road map’ outlining how restrictions will be eased in order to open schools and workplaces.

But the Government has also stressed that the nation's battle with coronavirus will continue after measures are eased.
