13 more patients with Covid-19 die at hospitals in Sheffield and South Yorkshire

A further 13 people who had tested positive for Covid-19 have died in Sheffield and South Yorkshire hospitals according to the latest statistics.

The most recent data released this afternoon (January 24) from NHS England shows seven more patents with the disease died in Sheffield hospitals bringing the total to 733.

Barnsley hospitals recorded five more deaths bringing the total to 496 and there were three more deaths at Doncaster hospitals where the total is now 652.

In Rotherham, there were no more deaths leaving the total there at 496.

The Government said a further 610 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 97,939.

There have been a further 30,004 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

Separate figures for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with data on more recent deaths, show there have now been almost 115,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.
