They’ve been written off by everyone (except Ian Wright) but Sheffield United have shown that there is life in their battle for survival yet and an incredible show of character at Bramall Lane against West Brom means fans can still hope that next season they’ll be watchig Premier League football again.

The Blades were off it in a scrappy first half and went a goal down through Matt Phillips, while also losing George Baldock to injury.

However, a switch at half time saw Oli McBurnie come on for Ollie Norwood and cause havoc and Jayden Bogle levelled things up.

Aaron Ramsdale made an absolutely incredible save to deby another former Blade Callum Robinson before Billy Sharp scored what could well be the most important goal of his career to earn all three points for the Blades.

There were heroes throughout the team but Sharp’s legendary status among supporters was further gilded.

@Justin1Rice posted on twitter: “Absolutely amazing game, extremely stressful at the end but well deserved. What a save from Rammers and well Billy Sharp scores goals. Bogle, Lowe, Fleck, Lundstram, McBurnie and especially Basham all brilliant. What a performance.”

@tyronej1984 said: “Sharp, Fleck, and Basham. Three absolute Blades legends. Three absolutely class performances tonight.”

@chriswright225 also praised Sharp: “I make that 5 out of our 11 points that Sharp’s goals have earned us this season. Blades legend to the very end!”

@andymorton81 is daring to dream: “They couldn't? Could they? Billy Sharp is an absolute legend. Massive win tonight. Deserved it. And at least we're not as bad as #DCFC were!”

There was praise offered to Ramsdale by @OliverMitchell7: “What a result! Desire and attitude to come back from behind! Have to say I’ve not been the biggest fan of Ramsdale - but WHAT A SAVE at a crucial time and Billy Sharp is a legend! Get that man a statue!!”

@Callum1093 would have loved to have been there: “Just wish the lads could hear 30000+ applauding that 2nd half. Basham rightfully MoTM but special mention for Bogle and Billy, with the goals. Huge 3 points and we've just got to keep this run going onto the next with Wilder's army.”

There was a big statement from @Johncurtis1889: “That second half performance was one of the best of the Wilder era. So much pressure to get a result and boy did they deliver. Colossal second half.”

And @gill_carly: said “GET IN!! That 2nd half performance, immense! Took it to em, got aggressive, got balls in the box, took chances & got what we deserved. This isn’t over if we play every game & every minute like this! @AaronRamsdale98 what a save! @billysharp10 GOAT!”
