Bogdan, a Romanian national, was involved in a collision with an orange Nissan Note at about 2pm on February 17.

He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but died on Sunday night.

A JustGiving page, set up in the wake of the tragedy, had raised £5,000 towards its £10,000 target yesterday.

But after thousands of pounds rolled in yesterday, the appeal target has now been raised to £20,000 to support his partner and young daughter.

Florentina Roxana Duicin, who launched the appeal, said: “On 17 February, our friend Bogdan was involved in a car accident whilst at work.

“The situation is complicated for his partner, as she gave birth only three months ago, and now they are both left alone and now they need our help.

“I hope, through this fundraiser, we can offer them a hand of support to both wife and child.”

Police officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw either party prior to the incident, to get in touch.

"Were you walking in Clay Lane or crossing the road at the time of the collision? Did you see what happened?

"If you can help, please get in touch. We are also keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage,” a statement said.

An Amazon spokesman said: “This is a terrible incident and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Bogdan’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.
