This is what a Sheffield school has done to prepare for pupils returning next month

Schools across the country will reopen their doors next month and welcome back thousands of children who have spent months away from the classroom.

In preparation, Dobcroft Infant School in Millhouses has been outlining their plans on how children will be welcomed back on September 2 and what pupils can expect if it's their first time back at school since March.

Guidance has been developed for schools to ensure children are kept safe from the virus, but individual schools have also been implementing their own safety measures tailored to meet their specific requirements.

Measures include staggering start times, one-way systems and placing students and staff into small protective bubbles to minimise the risk of infection.

These act alongside the government’s current advice relating to hygiene, hand-washing, social distancing and contact tracing in the event of any positive cases arising.

Sheffield Council says it has been helping schools across the city to reopen in a way that allows them to function as an educational setting whilst maintaining a reduced risk of the virus with safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

These pictures show just some of the measures that Dobcroft Infant School has implemented as it prepares to safely welcome back students.
