Headteacher Gemma Cottingham says attending an Academy Open Day is usually about being able to meet the teachers who will be guiding and nurturing the children, experiencing the facilities first hand and feeling the buzz of learning going on.

She says whilst this is not quite possible in the current climate, Parkwood E-ACT Academy have taken their Open Day online to give prospective parents a Virtual Open Day experience which can be enjoyed from the comfort of their own home.

As part of the Virtual Open Day, parents and children can meet Mrs Cottingham, watch a virtual tour of the facilities and meet the staff who will be looking after them in Year 7.

There is also an opportunity for parents to join a live presentation and question and answer session with the headteacher on Thursday, October 22. Remember to register on the website at parkwoodacademy.e-act.org.uk/useful-info/virtual-open-day.

Mrs Cottingham said: "As a parent myself, I appreciate what a difficult decision it is choosing your child's secondary school, this has been made even more difficult in the current circumstances, but I know that your child’s happiness and well-being is of paramount importance and will be crucial in this decision making process.

"We've put together a range of resources to give you the virtual open day experience from home and show case our fantastic staff and students at Parkwood Academy and what we have to offer.

"Please visit our website to see a welcome from myself, a virtual tour of the academy and much more!"

Parkwood E-ACT Academy are determined that all students succeed and leave the Academy in Year 11 as confident, articulate and aspirational young people, fully equipped for life and work in the 21st century.
