Sophie dreams of becoming an engineer within the armed forces and next year will study engineering, further maths, maths and physics in post-16 at UTC Sheffield City Centre, and apply for a Royal Navy bursary.

Sam Kearsley, 16, will study A-Level maths, physics and product design and the next level technical qualifications in engineering at UTC Sheffield City Centre after gaining 9s and 8s, and a distinction star in his engineering technical qualification.

He said: “I feel very happy with my results and relieved. Even though we didn’t have the pressure of sitting exams, I still did a double-take when I saw my results.”

Principal Alex Reynolds said he was ‘proud’ of this year’s students.

He added: “It’s been an extremely challenging year with the coronavirus lockdown, shift to remote learning and changing announcements about the grading of results.

"I want to commend our students for their hard work, congratulate them on completing their studies this year in challenging circumstances, and wish them all the very best as they move on to the next stage of their lives.”
