Sheffield’s two universities are featured in a top guide about the best learning facilities across the UK

According to the The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021 the University of Sheffield ranks equal 23rd nationally and third regionally, moving up three places from last year’s place.

It was rated on a student survey of teaching quality (79.7 per cent), student experience (80.6 per cent), graduate prospects – the percenetage in professional jobs or graduate-level study (81.8 per cent) and completion rate (93.2 per cent).

Sheffield Hallam was ranked in 67th place, down two from last year, and sixth in the northern region, with the following ratings student survey of teaching quality (80.6), student experience (77.4), graduate prospects (77.1) and completion rate (85.5).

University of Leeds is top of the northern university ranking, and sits 15th place nationally.

The new edition of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021, a free 96-page supplement will be published this weekend in The Sunday Times. It provides the definitive rankings for UK universities and the most comprehensive overview of higher education in Britain.

It includes profiles on 135 universities and the definitive UK university rankings, making use of the latest data published in the past two months.

The University of Sheffield (informally Sheffield University or TUOS) is a public research university in Sheffield. Its history traces back to the foundation of Sheffield Medical School in 1828, Firth College in 1879 and Sheffield Technical School in 1884. University College of Sheffield was subsequently formed by the amalgamation of the three institutions in 1897 and was granted a royal charter as University of Sheffield in 1905 by King Edward VII.

Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) is a public research university and one of the UK's largest and most diverse universities. It is based on two sites; the City Campus in the city centre near Sheffield railway station, while the Collegiate Crescent Campus is about two miles away in the Broomhall Estate.
