The school summer holidays are going quickly - which means GCSE results day is only around the corner.
Every parent only wants the best for their child at school, and that often starts with looking at their Ofsted results.
Thirteen secondary schools in Sheffield have had a visit from Ofsted in 2023 so far, meaning it's guaranteed some parents picked out their child's secondary schools only for the school to get re-graded.
A few of these outcomes will be cause for celebration, such as Seven Hills School maintaining its 'Outstanding' rating, or Astrea Academy Sheffield earning a 'Good' rating in its first-ever inspection. In a rare achievement, Mercia School was also rated 'Outstanding' in its first visit.
There have been some disappointments though, such as Handsworth Grange Community Sports College slipping from 'Outstanding' down to 'Requires Improvement'.
Meanwhile, other success stories included King Edward VII School rebounding from an 'Inadequate' rating in January to earn back its 'Good' grade in July, which also stopped it from being converted into an academy.
Here are all the Ofsted ratings for Sheffield's secondary schools in 2023 so far.

9. Holgate Meadows School - remains Inadequate and in special measures
Holgate Meadows School was rated 'Inadequate' in 2022 and sadly, in a monitoring visit published on May 26 was told it remains in special measures, despite many positive strides. In the following weeks, the school has also announced redundancies for several of its teaching assistants and support staff. The report reads: "There is now a clear strategy for whole-school improvement." - https://files.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50218304 | Google Maps Photo: Alastair Ulke

10. Chaucer School - Monitoring visit after "inadequate" rating
Chaucer School was rated 'Inadequate' last summer, which came as a shock after previous visits indicated they were on the road to "Good". A monitoring report published in May said the school is on its way back and improvements are being made, but there still a long way to go - https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/23/138414 | National World Photo: Brian Eyre

11. Handsworth Grange Community Sports College - Outstanding down to Requires Improvement
Handsworth Grange Community Sports College slipped from ‘outstanding’ to ‘requires improvement’ in an Ofsted inspection in January. Inspectors wrote that pupils behave well in class and show positive attitudes to learning, but found behaviour was "not good enough" during social times. - https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/23/141495 | Google Maps Photo: Google

12. Birley Academy - Requires Improvement
The Birley Academy was rated 'Requires Improvement' for the fourth time in a row in a report published in May 17 - meaning it has now been rated so for 10 years. Inspectors said that pupils' experiences were "mixed" - some enjoyed good relationships with their education but "too many do not enjoy learning". - https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/23/143963 | Google Maps Photo: Google
